  • MangaGamer at AX 2010: The Panel

July 6th, 2010, by zalas in Conventions, Translation

MangaGamer held a panel on the third night of Anime Expo 2010, where they introduced some upcoming products and put on a mini-concert while trying to stick to a script but failing at it. Amongst the chaos, MangaGamer announced that they finally finished negotations for Da Capo Innocent Finale, an all-ages game, in addition to announcing Da Capo II and a release date of July 29 for the final chapter of Higurashi Kai. Eroge company ├óge also said during the panel that they would like to release games with MangaGamer if there’s good reason to. Finally, the panel concluded with a mini-concert by the musical artists they brought and a raffle for prizes, including the raffle box.

UPDATE: Slightly more detail added to Yoshimune’s introduction and we’ve been informed that the final arc of Higurashi comes out on July 15 instead of July 29, and that the main MangaGamer webpage has the correct release date.

  • Nanami Now Naked

December 11th, 2009, by zalas in Translation

After some internal discussion, MangaGamer has now stated that they intend to keep the CGs intact on their release of Soul Link. Furthermore, Satoko’s naked sprite in one scene of Higurashi When They Cry will no longer be replaced with one where she is wearing a towel. Lastly, MangaGamer states that they hope to not alter games in the future, citing “Freedom of Speech” and the fact that their customers are adults and can make a decision on their own about whether to place themselves at risk or not, although “it is impossible to say there will not come a time when [they] are forced to censor content in a game.” While the ability to make to decision as adults is a strong argument in favor of MangaGamer’s reversal, freedom of speech is not fully legally enforced in all countries to which MangaGamer sells games.
