Assorted MangaGamer news
February 19th, 2010, by in Release, Translation
MangaGamer has now released their latest title Cosplay Alien according to
planschedule. The fandisk Edelweiss Eiden Fantasia has also been assigned a release date of March 20, according to a post on the official staff blog. There will be plans to offer a bundle package for those who have not purchased the original game, Edelweiss. We also had a chance to talk to someone from MangaGamer, and they’ve indicated that they’ve now picked a new font and it should start appearing in games once the programming to incorporate the new font is completed. However, currently unreleased games that are mostly finished will probably not get the new font. -

Girls on iPhone
November 12th, 2009, by in Release, Translation
As if following in line with growing popularity of eBooks on the iPhone, an English version of MOONSTONE’s Gift is now available for $9.99 on the App Store. Furthermore, according to the iPhone port’s developer’s site, Japanese and English versions of OVERDRIVE’s KIRAKIRA will also be available separately on the iPhone starting November 20. Of course, being on iPhone means that most of the sexual content will be removed.
Thanks to izmos for the heads-up.
UPDATE: KIRAKIRA is now available in English for $9.99. There are also trial versions of KIRAKIRA and Gift in English available on the iPhone App Store as free downloads. The Japanese version of KIRAKIRA on the App Store is apparently $15.99.

MangaGamer has revamped their site, replacing the ninja mascot with a cute girl mascot and the general theme with a slightly more pastel and cute layout. In addition to the site design renewal, they have also added a game to their lineup — OVERDRIVE’s KIRAKIRA, at 36.95 euros. Other changes to the site include wallpaper, song and opening movie downloads, as well as more informative tags for the games. In addition to their panel at Anime Expo, they will also be holding a concert at their booth.
UPDATE: Quick look at KIRAKIRA added.

OVERDRIVE looking for game scripters
December 25th, 2008, by in Translation
It appears that OVERDRIVE, original publisher of MangaGamer’s Edelweiss, has posted a request on their staff blog for three (Japanese) people to help them with the technical process of creating versions of currently released games for an European and American audience, including tuning the scripting in their current games. Apparently, English ability is not a required skill but will result in a fatter paycheck. It looks like the technical aspects of the game engine are handled by OVERDRIVE, while the translation and distribution are handled by MangaGamer. At least this is a good sign that OVERDRIVE wishes to continue in their endeavor. Thanks to TakaJun for the heads up.
