Today a full translation patch has been released for Quartett!, an adult visual “comic” released by Littlewitch in 2004. Taking place in a modern European setting, the story focuses on the formation of a classical quartet of young musicians and their interpersonal relationships while they aim for first in an upcoming competition. This patch release marks the wrap-up of 4.5 years of project work.

According to a post on their blog, Amaterasu Translations has decided to pick up Littlewitch’s Shirotsume Souwa -Episode of the Clovers- as a side project. Ixrec, the main translator, will only be checking the translation this time, and a mysterious person named “Love aristocrat” will be doing the main translation. Littlewitch features a very distinct style of artwork and their earlier games are more like visual comics than visual novels, employing a game engine called Full Frame Director. In this game, the story is told not through character sprites and backgrounds overlaid with text, but rather through drawn scenes and speech bubbles. The amount of text in this game is rather low, partly due to the dearth of descriptions — most of the text is dialogue. However, due to how the game engine works, word wrapping will most likely have to be done manually, screen by screen.
