Dark Translations gets in legal dance with Pixy-Soft

Nephrinn, translator for Dark Translations, has written a post about Pixy-Soft claiming infringement of their materials on Dark Translations’ website. Pixy-Soft is a product brand under Japanese company Infini-Brain (parent company of the Lilith brands) that produces direct-to-video erotic animation adaptations of many Lilith game titles, of which some of the original games have been translated unofficially by Dark Translations.

UPDATE: Nephrinn writes in a comment to his original post, claiming that it was a fake DMCA from a company that doesn’t represent Pixy-Soft.

UPDATE 2: Nephrinn talked about taking the site offline and eventually removed all mention of the Pixy-Soft situation from his blog. Currently, the entire site is offline.

UPDATE 3: Images, etc. have been taken down at the request of the host provider due to a DMCA notice.

Dark Translations finishes Shion, starts new game project

According to a post on Dark Translations’s website, a finalized English patch for Lilith’s Shion – Cruel Magical Angel is now available. Furthermore, translation has started on the next project, AKATSUKI WORKS’s Devils Devel Concept.

Work on Shion was started in early March of this year and has taken nearly four months to complete. For compensation, Dark Translations uses a system of commissions (a total of $750 in this case), which has been somewhat controversial. Commissions are pledged at first to determine which game to translate and must be paid in full before the full translation patch can be released. However, once the patch is released, it is available to the public.

AKATSUKI WORK’s Devils Devel Concept, originally released on February 26, 2009 in Japan, is the newest game Dark Translations is tackling. In contrast to previous games this group has worked on, DDC is much more story driven and is described by the translator as being “a bit more mainstream and story-orientated than what [he's] done thus far.” The translator mentions in a later post that the material has presented some difficulties but that things should pick up.
