The first day of Anime Expo 2008 did not bring much in terms of visual novels. We at encubed did manage to visit the exhibition floor to take a peek and also learned some information that may be of interest to TYPE-MOON fans. Lastly, we hope to hold a live webcast of the Circus panel on Day 2, so please check back around 9:30PM PDT on July 4, 2008.

After entering the exhibition hall, we found the Circus booth set up next to the Broccoli International booth. Currently, their booth features opening videos from their games, such as Da Capo II and Eternal Fantasy. We tried to get into contact with Circus and MangaGamer, but were not able to since representatives for both organizations were not present at the time we visited the exhibition hall.

Meanwhile, pillow cases of eroge characters seem to be selling quite well, as one Hen Da Ne representative mentioned. Hen Da Ne sells both Japanese and English-localized visual novels at conventions, as well as doujin products.

Lastly, at their panel, Aniplex USA showed trailers of some of their shows including one for Kara no Kyoukai – the Garden of sinners, a theatrical adaptations of a novel by Kinoku Nasu. As some people may know, Nasu is the writer behind TYPE-MOON games such as Tsukihime and Fate/stay night. When asked about the property, a representative replied that negotations for the license have not concluded and they hope to have an announcement in the near future.
