JAST USA and MangaGamer deliver year-end updates
December 31st, 2011, by in Translation
Both JAST USA and MangaGamer have delivered their year-end updates. From the JAST USA end, it looks like Saya no Uta and Hanachirasu will be sold separately, although there will be a discount for buying them together. The two games along with Sumaga are scheduled to be out before Anime Expo. Meanwhile, MangaGamer states that they’re working on a 4th hard copy game from the J-List distribution deal, which will be a game they have already released that they are trying to fix up. Furthermore, they’re also aiming for a end-of-February or beginning-of-March release for DEARDROPS, while the trial version is currently out for people to try out the game. Dengeki Stryker and Harukoi Otome are still in translation, with the former aimed at a release by the time Anime Expo comes around. As for ef – the first tale, it’s still undergoing review by NNL of the latest build from minori, which if it passes, will allow the release to proceed.

bamboo broadcast #2
June 23rd, 2011, by in News, Translation
Last night MangaGamer hosted their second Q&A session with bamboo, OVERDRIVE’s president. MangaGamer’s Kouryuu translated the many questions viewers asked into Japanese for bamboo while MangaGamer’s Evospace translated bamboo’s responses back into English for the viewers. This time the website justin.tv was used for the stream, because of some problems that a few viewers had with Ustream during the first broadcast. Livestream had also been considered as an alternative for Ustream as well. The broadcast was held a day later then initially planned as bamboo was not feeling well for the originally scheduled time, leading to a temporary postponement. During the broadcast, viewers asked about MangaGamer’s current state, future plans, and a number of personal questions about bamboo himself. The web cast can be viewed in it’s entirety here, although without comments that were provided during the live chat. Future streams are planned to be done on JustinTV, and bamboo will be in the states for Anime Expo next week. The following are questions that were asked by viewers during the event, along with answers that were translated during the stream by Evospace.

MangaGamer raffles anime with Koihime Musou release
February 28th, 2011, by in Release, Translation
MangaGamer has now released an English localization of BaseSon’s Koihime Musou. The game, when purchased, is available through downloads of two zip files, each approximately the size of a CD. As mentioned previously, the game currently has no voices due to the high cost of royalties for all the voice actors in the game and the voices will be added back in an official patch should the game sell more than two thousand copies. In addition to the game release, MangaGamer has announced that they are holding a raffle in collaboration with Sentai Filmworks for 10 copies of the Shin Koihime Musou Complete Collection DVD set. Furthermore, purchasers of that set will also be eligible to win one of 10 copies of the game. This giveaway is slated to last until July 29th. MangaGamer’s blog post concludes with a little poem hinting at a possible future release.
