At their Anime Expo 2007 panel, JAST USA passed out trading cards of their game titles for their 10th anniversary. However, on it were included a few titles that were not yet announced, two of them being Cosplay Fetish Academy (性愛学園ふぇち科) and Cat Girl Alliance (仔猫同盟). Please note that both of these titles are mainly focused on the sex and be advised that the linked sites contain adult content. At Otakon, Peter Payne confirmed the rumors by stating that “Some of the cards have games we haven’t announced yet, so if you are lucky and have one, you know what’s coming up next.”

Thanks to W-General for relaying questions at Otakon.

Right Stuf
Right Stuf has announced that the last DVD of ToHeart will have a limited edition version which will come with the box. It will be a 1,500 print run with each volume individually labeled with a serial number. Preorder from (most likely) rightstuf.com to get the box. According to Right Stuf, they estimate the boxes will be sold out either before the release (via preorders) or a couple weeks after its release.

When asked whether Right Stuf had an interest in licensing visual novels, they mentioned that they have currently not looked at that market.

Welcome to VisualNews’ coverage of Anime-Expo 2007 in Long Beach, California.

Our pieces for AX coverage will be split up into two different sections, memos and notes. Notes will be a very quick overview and rundown of the day’s headlines while memos will be the detailed articles for each day that come a bit later. As much as a memo would be nice right now, we are only human (and thus need sleep), so hopefully tomorrow shall see the memo for day one.

AX Notes: Day 1
Seven Seas picked up the Zero no Tsukaima light novels.
Bandai Visual grabbed Super Robot Wars OVA. TV series coming later.
Broccolli REALLY wants to bring Galaxy Angel 2 (Rune) and are looking into a way to do it. The president of Broccolli Japan made a “promise… maybe” to somehow find a way to get it over stateside.
JAST will have Pretty Soldier A.D. 2408 ready for Comikon, then after Comikon it will be available on their site.
JAST acquired the rights to Pulltop’s Princess Waltz.
JAST acquired the rights to the highly rated D.O. game, Kazoku Keikaku.

G-Collections announced two days ago through a Press Release email the acquisition of Amorous Professor Cherry ( 微熱教師ちえり) from producer ZyX.

“Amorous Professor Cherry is the story of Kouta Koikawa, a youth madly in love with his rookie social studies professor Chieri. The player guides Kouta’s actions as the romance between them unfolds, allowing the player to experience love and tender passion not only with Chieri but also with her vivacious colleague Mamiko and Kouta’s classmate.“

Amorous Professor Cherry is writen by scenario writer Tomohiro Minakami; famed in the US for his scenario work in another G-Collections title, Crescendo. Art is handled by Sendorikun. In what seems like a recent trend in JAST Zaibatsu acquitisions, Amorous Professor Cherry is another title ranked over 70 on Erogamescape. Preorder for the game is available from the usual place, JAST USA.

Amorous Professor Cherry is in initial development stage and is expected to see a release date sometime in late 2007 or early 2008.

Also included in the press release was an announcement by JAST that they would reveal two more title acquisitions at their panel at AX that would “revolutionize the face of the English language bishoujo game industry“. An updated will be made after the event on the two title acquisitions.

Full press article and the cover from Amorous Professor Cherry can be seen in the Read More.

A bit belated perhaps, but at FanimeCon 2007, Shizuki Yamashita from Broccoli International USA (abbreviated from here on as BIUSA) talked about their plans regarding the Galaxy Angel games and their possible release in the US.

There was a company who licensed the PC version of the first game from Broccoli Japan, and Broccoli Japan introduced the BIUSA people to them at E3 that year, with the suggestion of marketing the franchise together. BIUSA offered to help the game localization company with anything, but they have yet to hear back from them ever since.

Meanwhile, BIUSA is talking to a few companies about the Galaxy Angel II game, and they hope they can announce something this year. The game is supposedly pretty popular in Japan and now would be a good time to introduce it over here.

Furthermore, BIUSA hinted at why the PC version was sought after, instead of the PS2 version. Essentially, Sony USA is very strict about bringing over non-3D games, so most AVG are out. However, now that the PS3 is out, Sony may become a bit more lax with the PS2 US licensing. Added to the fact that 2D games like Phoenix Wright (Gyakuten Saiban) have been pretty popular, there may be more people interested in bringing 2D AVG over. One final issue is that these games have a lot of text, so there is question whether US gamers would be interested in reading so much.

In closing, Shizuki Yamashita mentioned the Evangelion Battle Orchestra game and how interesting it was. She said it would be cool if that were released over here and jokingly asked the crowd to ask Mr. Yamaga (from Gainax) to license the game. She also said that you can play it on a Japanese PS2, as there isn’t really that much reading involved.
