When C&Dwiki was first set up, it used a set of IP subnet blocks implemented using MediaWiki’s built-in IP blocking mechanism. There were several holes in this block earlier, but they appear to be patched up by now, resulting in Japanese visitors being greeted by a parody of minori’s foreign-facing site:

The website appears to be hosted in Austria, and the domain registration appears to be from a German registrar. Austria and Germany are both signatories to the Berne convention as well as to the WIPO Copyright Treaty. However, it is not clear that these two countries have provisions in their laws for something similar to a DMCA takedown. Therefore, it may take more effort and time on the accuser’s part to legally force allegedly infringing content to be removed.

Currently on the C&Dwiki is a translation project for VisualArt’s brand mana’s Mare Mare Mare -Sister Plus- with a couple hundred lines translated so far, as well as a translation for recently doujin-turned-pro brand Lose’s first work, GothDel with script files dumped. Both projects are looking for additional staff.

In addition to these translation projects, the C&Dwiki also hosts a panoply of tools for working with and modifying various game engines.

UPDATE: NNL states on its website that it has canceled work on ef. However, their website shows a “404 – Not Found” when browsed with a certain Japanese proxy but appear fine to several people in Japan who have browsed to the site.

The website as of this writing states:

ef has been canceled due to a cease and desist order from minoriworks. Members of the ef project read certain articles on certain web sites, became “beyond freaked out,” and after careful consideration, did not wish to risk their comfortable livelihoods.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

UPDATE 2: NNL states that they actually meant that the ef fandub project was cancelled and not the main project. They have released an installer on their own website and state that the data files needed for the installer can be found “somewhere else.”

2010.04.30. ef Lite is out! But you won’t find it here. Not for now, at least. Installation of ef Lite requires two files: the installer and the data file. We’ll happily link you to the installer here, which is on a third-party server. The installer contains no data from the game itself. As for the data file, you’ll have to find that somewhere else. Maybe try looking on a highway. Or ask a commie friend. Commies are so nice!

The ef script is more than double the length of Wind -a breath of heart-’s! It’s a long game, so have fun playing the SHINIEST and PRETTIEST (and therefore, BEST) visual novel ever!

If you’re wondering, we did not include the fandisc scripts. They will be included in ef Genuine Draft, the deluxe version of ef that will also contain all of the new PS2 event CG!

As for that announcement about ef being canceled? Well, that was for the ef fandubbed visual novel! Shame on you if you thought we were going to cancel ef Lite! But here are some people who were fooled!

Fate stay/night’s script is written in a Japanese text encoding called ShiftJIS. Japanese and English are the only fully supported languages that will display properly in ShiftJIS, and Polish, the language you have been trying to get working, is not supported. Because of this, I’d imagine that problems can occur with Polish.

kirikiri [the Engine used in Fate/stay night] also supports Unicode, so perhaps you can first convert the entire script to Unicode and then change the text. Please give that a shot.

My English reading skills are not very good, so I apologize if I did not fully understand the problem.

Kiyobee (清兵衛) worked on the programming aspects of Fate/stay night and frequents the TYPE-MOON support BBS, helping users with technical issues such as games crashing.

They’ve been posted up for a while now, but only recently has anyone bothered to make the basic tools that can unpack and repack translated text into things. A forum member, toolbox, has posted up a set of tools, and a quick guide to using them.

The tool handles the System 3.x series of engines, so it doesn’t handle the (relatively) newer System 4 games that are available. However, translators now have a new set of games to consider working with.
