According to a post on the official blog, MangaGamer happened to run into the owner of Himeya Soft and received permission to sell their old releases, the first of which being the story-focused mystery adventure game EVE burst error. While the original PC-98 version of the game had adult content, there were many subsequent all-ages releases, one of which being the English-localized release. Unfortunately, Himeya Soft could only provide MangaGamer with a copy of the finished product instead of the original materials, and thus no textual or visual changes could be made to the release. The game will remain all-ages and is now available for 9.95 EUR without DRM from MangaGamer’s site.

At the beginning of this month Staircase Subs released a complete fan translation patch for Favorite’s Hoshizora no Memoria. Since then, they have released an update patch to correct some lines from their initial release as well as improve or fix a couple other minor things. Looking forward, Staircase Subs is currently trying to get tools to work on Yuzusoft’s newly released Dracu-Riot, and in the event that they are unable to the plan is to pick up a different title instead.

In order to install the patch, one needs to first install the official patch released by Favorite before applying the translation patch released by the group. This official patch is available on the group’s website along side the translation patch. The 1.1 update patch, which improves 253 lines of the script as well as including a couple other minor improvements and corrections, needs to be applied after the group’s 1.0 patch is installed. The group also includes a separate download for a subbed version of the opening movie on their website.

Hoshizora no Memoria is an 18+ visual novel released by Favorite in 2009. The story begins with the protagonist moving back to his hometown, which he left seven years prior to the start of the game. Staircase Subs picked up the project in 2010, and recieved a cease and desist notice which the group disregarded shortly afterwards/

After keeping the title of his active translation project under wraps for months, Aroduc has released a complete fan translation for Eushully’s Kamidori Alchemy Meister earlier this morning, along with a large collection of cat pictures in a separate download. He has been giving out the patch to those few who dared to challenge him to a Melty Blood match since Saturday night, where he won the majority of his matches (although he gave everyone who played him the patch, win or lose). This patch was leaked to the newly formed /vg/ board of 4chan last night. In order to install the patch, one needs to have all three of the official append discs released by Eushully since the original release installed, along with the original game of course. Aroduc has been releasing translations of text heavy games for some time, best known for his releases of Battle Moon Wars, Big Bang Age, and the original Galaxy Angel trilogy. He is now working on another unrevealed title, which is listed as having 22804 lines.

On the forums, Aroduc has included a wealth of information, along with a number of tips, tricks and answers to some common questions. Another thread details a number of bugs which are present in the original Japanese release, and thus still present while playing using the translation patch. As to new issues introduced with the English patch, there are a couple minor cosmetic bugs, however more seriously there is the slight chance of a save failing to load on certain lines. For those who already had the patch before this morning’s release, there is a text update patch available that fixes a problem where some untranslated text was introduced because of one of the append discs.

Kamidori is a massive text heavy SRPG/eroge that was released by Eushully last year. There is a focus on item creation, while the battle system is what you would expect in a SRPG. The game is quite long and for a player just aiming for completion of the game Aroduc estimates that one would take roughly 60 hours of play and hit half the dungeons. There is an extensive new game plus available upon completion of a play through. The story focuses on a newly licensed alchemist taking over his parents shop, and this is broken up into three routes that each focus on one of the main heroines.

A few days ago, DLSite has released an English version of Hatoful Boyfriend, an otome dating sim released by the doujin group PigeoNation Inc. in October 2011. The release marks the first ever commercial translation of a pigeon dating sim to English.

Touted as the world’s greatest, this game earns its feathers introducing eight ‘winnable’ birds and offering a total of 15 different endings. It tells the story of a young girl going to St. PigeoNation’s Institute, a school for human-level intellect birds.
The game features classic story branching, based on chosen activities and a simple stat system. In order to facilitate better interaction with the player, each bird is presented together with a humanized visualization during the first meeting.

The name Hatoful Boyfriend is a mixture of the English ‘heartful’ and the Japanese word ‘hato’ for pigeon. A demo version of the game was released in Japan in July 2011, offering a smaller number of characters and endings. An English translation patch for this free version was released several months ago.

Last night, Amaterasu Translations completed their sixth translation project by releasing a complete fan translation of Liar-Soft’s Forest. This is the third translation of a Liar-Soft title that they have completed, following Sekien no Inganock and Shikkoku no Sharnoth. The release has been hampered by DNS issues for some users after the server suffered an extended period of downtime earlier this week. The translator Ixrec is now looking at Key’s Rewrite for the team’s seventh project after his break. As of now he expects the translation of Rewrite to take six to seven months to complete and the current plan is to release two partial patches before the final release, one for the common route and one containing all of the character routes.

Forest contains nearly a thousand voice only lines, which have no displayed text to go with them and may be heard at the same time as different, unvoiced lines are displayed in the traditional text box. The group handled these lines by including subtitles near the top of the screen to display these translations. The included read me, in addition to staff credits and installation instructions, includes a list of works referenced in the script in “some form”, a few translation notes, and a detailed walkthrough for the game. The translation notes section lists a couple chapter titles which had a pun or reference that could not be preserved in the translation along with the literal translation of a limerick in the script that had to get a modified translation to keep the rhyme and rhythm.

Forest is a visual novel that was originally released by Liar-Soft in 2004. It focuses on a group of characters in the city of Shinjuku, along with their struggles against the Forest. These characters have gifts, or abilities, as they go up against the riddles that the Forest lays out for them.
