  • Visual Novels on Kickstarter

    May 11th, 2012, by dan88 in Feature

The increasingly popular crowd funding website Kickstarter has seen a number of visual novel projects try to get off the ground during the last year. Although recently failing to reach it’s funding goal, the project Devil Gene R had over $4,000 pledged towards it’s $10,000 goal when it failed, which to date has been the largest amount of dollars pledged towards any visual novel on the website. Not all projects have failed to reach their funding however, Kickstarter was successfully used for the team trying to reach a $2,000 goal last summer to work on the visual novel Bliss Stage. In a slightly different category, one of the artists for Katawa Shoujo used Kickstarter to get funding for a Katawa Shoujo art book to sell at this year’s Anime Expo, raising $15,500 despite having an original goal of only $750.

April 22nd, 2012, by shinji in Conventions, Feature, Interviews

Last weekend, one of our reporters took a trip to Massachusetts for Anime Boston 2012. We were originally planning to attend to meet the Japanese guests Kanako Ito and Halko Momoi, and will be posting reports on them soon. However, first we would like to report about an unexpected visitor who came with Kanako.

Representing one of the sponsors of Kanako Ito’s visit was the Nitroplus president himself, Digitarou. After meeting him at Kanako’s press panel, he was kind enough to give us some of his time for a brief interview. We asked him about Nitroplus’s foray into the English-speaking market, from his initial impressions to his hopes for the future.

UPDATE: More details and links added to writeup and certain statements were removed at the request of our source. The article has also been reordered and NNL has issued a comment, stating that:

[W]e appreciate the summary of events that [have been] written up — and that we’d prefer that everyone: the community, Gemot Encubed, and No Name Losers, move on from the bitter events of the past, as the minori/Mangagamer/No Name Losers partnership demonstrates so beautifully.

  • Sonohana Sales Stats

March 14th, 2010, by zalas in Feature

We’ve been watching download sales of games from fuguriya’s Sono Hanabira ni Kuchidzuke o series on DLsite ever since the release of the fan translation patch for the first game back on Valentine’s Day. The translator posted a link to where people could buy the game from DLsite in the release post. It appears that the release may have triggered an appreciable amount of sales of the game on DLsite’s English site, although the total amount wasn’t very high, especially compared to sales on the Japanese side.
