Sekai Project has released a new patch for School Days that translates everything through chapter three of the game out of six total chapters. The patch comes in two flavors: an installer that installs the original game, the Japanese update patch and the English translation patch and a standalone installer just for the translation patch itself. The project team also mentions that they’ve been in contact with 0verflow since Anime Expo and wanted to help them with some information. Thus, they would like everyone to fill out their survey on content restrictions, pricing and distribution format. The information from this survey would be used to guide 0verflow in any plans to publish overseas.

if you really wanna show your support you’ll definitely won’t regret completing this survey. it IS short afterall.

The survey could be better. There should be enough countries who differentiate between “selling within the country” and “possessing” stuff.
e.g. loli might not be allowed to sell in a country, but actually owning it is no problem. (Thus this should make a download-purchases perfectly fine… I think)
Then again, laws are complicated and a survey… I dunno.

Thank god for some good news!
I am very happy I can help this industry out a little bit, even if it is just filling in a survey. I mean, this is great. First of all, Overfl0w understands that English Patches can only INCREASE their sales, so they are friendly to the people creating them. Second, overfl0w is expressing interest in licensing their games for the rest of the world, officially. I would love to see English translations of Summer Days and Cross Days!
Sekai Project mentions on the survey that it could be spread around the industry, which suggests to me that overfl0w’s sentiments are shared by other companies as well.
This has made me a lot more optimistic on the whole minori thing as well. Based on some hints dropped by mangagamer, I am thinking that minori, NNL, and mangagamer are preparing to enter into an official licensing deal as well. I’m a little sad that Visual Arts C&D’s Air, but maybe an official project isn’t out of the question there either!

Please let us know in the additional comments about these things. The broad questions are there because I didn’t want to make it any longer or some people may be turned away.

For the USA, I really don’t think anything in School Days would be considered illegal. Lolis can fall under obscenity laws under the ridiculous “Miller Test”, but the majority of SD isn’t loli.
Considering many other more “obscene” titles like Virgin Roster have been released, I don’t think Overflow would have a problem releasing their games here.
Anyway, I really hope Overflow decides to start making official English releases. Hopefully Sekai Project can release the original School Days, while Overflow releases the official School Days HQ version.

It’s good to be an 0verflow fan. Seriously.

Took the survey, directed three friends to it. I myself clicked the “can ask further questions” box, as I hope everyone else will. Thanks for the opportunity, and it’s great that they’re giving the survey through native English speakers… that makes things easier.
Nobody’s mentioned the fact that we actually have a chapters 2-3 patch… thanks everyone at the Sekai Project! I’ll get around to checking out these chapters soon enough.
