More correspondence from AKABEiSOFT2

Suzumiyaandy reports on the gemot that AKABEiSOFT2 has sent him an email regarding his translation of WHEEL SOFT’s (an AKABEiSOFT2 brand) ~Pantsu wo Miseru koto, Sore ga…~ Daiuchuu no Hokori. The email lists three games for which translations should be removed (of which one of them applies in this particular instance) and states that user(s) have also sent in many such requests. The correspondence also appears to be from a different source than the one sent to Anime Novel previously.
The following is a translation of the email into English:
As per our usage guidelines posted on our company’s official webpage (http://www.akabeesoft2.com/), images and games produced by AKABEiSOFT2 may not be distributed, sold, or made available for viewing or download over the network.
With regards to English translation patches, we as well as sister brands would like such work to be removed as soon as possible.
Works for which removal applies:
* G-Senjou no Maou
* Akatsuki no Goei
* Pantsu wo Miseru koto, Sore ga … Daiuchuu no HokoriOur user(s) have also sent many removal requests to us regarding these English translation patches, so we would like you to comply with our requests as soon as possible.

The first thing to notice is that the address listed in this email is from a different building than the one sent to Anime Novel. Perhaps WHEEL SOFT, the creators of the game in question, is based in a different building and that this email originated from there. Furthermore, the first part of the email seems very sloppily done. The guidelines (which coincidentally isn’t viewable due to the IP block, although it is available in Google’s cache) state that the restriction on distribution and sales as well as network viewing and downloading applies to pictures and game images produced by the company, not pictures and games. It looks like whoever wrote the email left out the “images” part after “game”. The final interesting tidbit in the email is that the company claims that it has been receiving many requests from either a user or multiple users wanting to remove the translations.

“users” as in people who own the game? I don’t know about how people in Japan think, but I see little reason in why the hell would people who already got the game would complain about some fan made translation, oversea or otherwise.

That is so hardcore Otaku. They do it just to spite us. The pirating foreigners don’t deserve our games. Come to Japan – and THEN play. I speak only of the most ardent, most hardcore group of Otaku who thinks this way.

From what I can piece together from this C&D is that there seems to be users unrelated to the companies that are hunting down translation projects and reporting them to their respective companies. Looks like the C&D’s are going to continue coming.

the way I see it, it’s either,
1. The companies hire someone to hunt the groups down
2. Some jackass decide to screw the trans-groups over for whatever reasons that made him a jackass and/or dumbass in the first place
3. Some Japanese dude who can’t read English happen to see the group and thought : “hey they’re pirating our goods” and decide to complain to the companies (though this one seem unlikely)

AkabeiSoft2, like any other companies mentioned before, is just digging it’s own grave. Those C&D’s will lead to nothing.
As of “jackass” case, do not underestimate the Japanese imageboard’s crowd.

These C&Ds are paper tigers. minori sent one to NNL, threatening legal action if they didn’t stop their work on the EF patch. NNL called their bluff and released the patch, nothing happened.

You really think companies in Japan are rolling in so much cash they’re going to get involved in an international lawsuit that will only cost them money? If these companies are actually worried about foreign piracy, then it makes way more sense to go after China and Korea. These C&D notices really don’t feel like they have any teeth to them. Wake me up when Japanese companies actually get serious about trying to get into the US market and then we MAY have something to worry about.
