Amaterasu translator Ixrec has posted an announcement about their next project: a translation of âge’s Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative. According to the post, he plans to translate at least 20kB of scripts a day, and while an exact text count for the entirety of the scripts hasn’t been determined yet, some of the staff have estimated this to take roughly a year or two.
Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Alternative are the two parts of âge’s fourth game project. âge also released the relatively well-known Kimi ga Nozomu Eien; it had spawned an animated adaptation, which has been officially localized by FUNimation as Rumbling Hearts. While not directly related, Muv-Luv shares some of its setting with Kimi ga Nozomu Eien.
Muv-Luv was released in 2003 and its “sequel” was released in 2006, after several delays. The first game is comprised of two parts — EXTRA, which is mainly a love comedy, and UNLIMITED, a more serious sci-fi/military story with the characters finding themselves suddenly in a parallel universe, and this part is unlocked after certain conditions are met in EXTRA. The second game, Muv-Luv Alternative, takes place in the same universe as UNLIMITED and ties together EXTRA as well.
