At their Anime Expo 2009 booth, MangaGamer was passing out flyers about 07th Expansion’s Higurashi no Nakukoro ni. According to the flyer, there are plans for MangaGamer to release a localized version of the original doujin release this fall. They also have a laptop running a promotional video about Higurashi.

UPDATE: At their Anime Expo panel, MangaGamer suggested they might release the game in two arcs of four chapters each, much like the original.
UPDATE2: An update on their website indicates a release before the end of October

Now the AIDS of the Higurashi anime will be known world-wide!
This is excellent news.

I wonder how many episodes are they going to release at once.

Someone tell MangaGamer the Na needs to be red.
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:15 pm
also I think best bet for success would be to port matsuri not original games (I am fan but still, this is not for fans only)
July 2nd, 2009 at 9:19 pm
They should port matsuri though, that would be safer bet…

Would Buy

Porting Matsuri could be tricky, though. This way they only have to deal with 07th Expansion and nobody else.

And seeing as Ryukishi07 gave his approval to the Witch Hunt, I’m guessing he didn’t ask for too much.

I am thoroughly pleased.

“Just walked past their AX booth. They had banners of Shuffle and Shin Koihime Musou.”
This person was a MangaGamer proofreader, so probably reliable.

I’m starting a savings jar for this right now.

Mangagamer are picking up some really awesome games lately. I bought Kira Kira and I’ll definitely be buying this.
July 2nd, 2009 at 10:58 pm
They really can’t, you know :(
But this does scream fake all over.
Which is suspicious!
July 2nd, 2009 at 10:58 pm
How will they handle the horribly drawn naked loli?
July 2nd, 2009 at 11:06 pm
Well damn, I did check my email. Shall we call it a draw? :P

I’m kind of disappointed. I’d have rather the Alchemist remakes.

Agreed, the original PC’s art is eye-gouging.
July 3rd, 2009 at 8:16 pm
I like the PC art way more. It’s interesting and original. The remake looks exaclty like anime.
July 3rd, 2009 at 8:55 pm
Alchemist remakes, HELL NO!
Only if you want:
1) Lots of text cutted.
2) To lose the original OST that makes the Sound Novel a Sound Novel.
3) Art without charisma.
4) A poor intent to make Higurashi into a standard visual novel.
