MangaGamer pulls Da Capo for bug fix

According to MangaGamer’s website, they have discovered a bug in the release and is halting distribution of this product temporarily, with a rerelease date of January 20, 2009. It looks like customers who have bought the game can still download it, but it is no longer available to new customers.

UPDATE: According to a post on MangaGamer’s forums, Da Capo wasn’t supposed to be released on Christmas and was supposed to undergo a final quality check. Supposedly, much of MangaGamer is run by volunteers from the Japanese game companies, who have been very busy preparing for Comiket and may have forgotten to update the date before the website automatically enabled Da Capo for sales.

    Update on MG site:
    >>>>>>
08 Jan 2009 Additional information regarding “Da Capo”.
Those who purchased the game on 12/25 will be given a free [sic] download and re-activation upon its re-release.
Although there is no malicious effect on your computer, the 12/25 version contains incomplete portions in its presentation.
We apologize again for the inconvinience [sic]. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Were people really worried that they won’t get access to the re-release version of D.C.? Those who got Edelweiss did get access to the re-release version (and it didn’t ask for re-activation).

P.S. it is not “free”, as we already paid for it, the file being downloaded will change, that is all.

I really do hope they don’t force people to redownload 800MB of data for a 1MB script patch.
